During the Foundation Art and Design course at the Nottingham Trent International College I have learnt how to get out of my comfort zone and experiment with new media. The course has also given me a comprehensive preparation as I apply to NTU. This preparation has been a mix of formal and casual learning and creative explorations which as an international student I needed. The overall design and delivery of the module helped me understand about art and design and has also opened my mind to a new way of thinking and developing art for my projects. Media studies are also included in this course and this helps me to understand about some of the new technologies in the contemporary art and design world.
This course will help me as I move onto the BA Hons Architecture Technology course in the near future because of the skills I have learnt and developed throughout the Foundation course. For instance, needing to solve problems occurs frequently while doing projects and helping class mates develop and work on specific technical areas such as using fine casting plaster to make a scale model. I feel like I have increased my confidence in speaking and expressing my ideas and work, and have also polished important practical skills using various tools and processes.
